Cause of the Month
Acts 20:35

"In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

At American Lutheran Church, we believe in being active members of our Community. All year long we support a cause of the Month and give our love, service and generosity to help make a difference in the lives of everyone in our Community.
Food Fort
The cause of the month for January is the Food Fort. Their goal is to improve the health of the children they serve, improve the graduation rate in communities, change the community’s mindset on poverty and be a model to the community in regard to relational, physical and financial health.
Located in three locations in Lincoln: 29th & Holdredge, N. Chester St. & W. Dawes Ave., and 13th St & Saratoga, they bring a bus bringing food, relationships, tutors, and providing a space where kids can play games and hangout. They provide a free produce stand at each location each week, spring through the fall.
Overall, Food Fort is a non-profit dedicated to serving children in under-resourced neighborhoods. In addition to providing food for children in need, their mission is to provide “more than just a meal”. They seek to provide intentional relationships through respect, love, and being a constant support system in these kids’ lives. American Lutheran can help by providing needed funds to help purchase food items, they can volunteer their time either by tutoring or can help share about this local non-profit dedicated to improving communities. You can donate to the cause of the month fund or directly on their site: www.lincolnfoodfort.com.
