Cause of the Month
Acts 20:35
"In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"
At American Lutheran Church, we believe in being active members of our Community. All year long we support a cause of the Month and give our love, service and generosity to help make a difference in the lives of everyone in our Community.
Society of Care
Society of Care is dedicated to helping our Native American communities, families and youth throughout Nebraska regardless of tribal affiliation with behavioral health assistance, societal stigmas, trauma care, poverty and limited resources. They provide trustworthy, accessible, affordable and culturally sensitive behavioral health care, education, prevention services and support. With a team of over 80% Native American, they have a voice and a role in their care. They connect families with specialists and services to assist them and advocate for their future. With an unwavering belief in a brighter future for Native youth, families and communities, Society of Care empowers Native American youth, strengthens families and impacts their quality of life. Society of Care also offers community based guided services, workforce development and education, parenting strategies and psychoeducation and cultural support and re-education. They are in the Omaha and Lincoln areas as well as in the reservation communities of Santee Sioux, Macy, Walthill and Winnebago. They are continually seeking to expand their scope and increase the accessibility of their services. The need for their work is evident in the demographic and disparity indicators of Native American youth in Nebraska. Society of Care is overcoming barriers and showing favorable outcomes. Your funds help them provide the services and can help make a better future for Native Youth. You can donate online or by offering plate.
